Testing Information
Access to our own acoustic, wind and water test lab in Germany, which tests to all
current standards and is overseen and certificated by ift Rosenheim.
Based on your requirements, our consultants can design and implement a programme
to run in our lab, which allows testing of a variety of components in a range of sizes.
In the lab, we can raise the sound insulation values for joints and construction elements
such as doors and windows. The laboratory meets the requirements of EN ISO 10140
and comprises three rooms which together form an L shape.
The rooms are separated from each other by a modular partition wall system, in one
case, and by a concrete wall, in the other. Both walls have a test opening which can be
quickly and flexibly adjusted to suit the elements to be tested.
Technical Information
All Norsound tests are conducted in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2 & BS EN ISO
717-1, the harmonised European standards for measuring the sound insulation of
building elements.
BS 476-31.1:1983 – Methods for measuring smoke penetration through doorsets and
shutter assemblies.
BS 476-22 – Methods for determination of the fire resistance of nonloadbearing
elements of construction.
Q Marked Approved – Exova BM TRADA Q-Mark fire door manufacturer scheme can
provide additional reassurance that your products are fit for purpose through on-going
compliance to the original product specification.
Approved Document M Compliant – Building regulation in England to ensure that
people are able to access and use buildings and their facilities.
dBRw – Rw is the weighted sound reduction index in dB (decibels) and it describes the
airborne sound insulating power of a building element.
Kerf-fit – Width of cut made by a saw blade.
